Construction management is a combination of various disciplines. Architecture, business, engineering and customer relations are all a part of the job.

In addition to construction management, Collin College offers an HVAC program. Additional offerings for plumbing, electrical and carpentry are planned along with a two-year program dedicated to construction safety and compliance.

Collin College’s Construction Management Program is housed in a new three-story 340,000-sq-ft. technical campus in Allen. The four-building complex serves up to 7,100 traditional, dual credit and continuing education students when fully occupied. Designed with workforce education as its core function, Collin College Technical Campus provides classroom and lab space dedicated to training tomorrow’s craftspeople on the latest techniques with the newest industry-standard technology. The building features a 400×90-foot area exclusively dedicated to the construction trades.

We are excited about the potential this program has to address the labor shortage that now exceeds 20,000 workers in the Dallas area. More importantly, we believe Collin College will provide opportunities for many men and women to find a meaningful career in the construction trades.

High School Construction Trades Outreach

Our Association works with numerous high school construction trades programs in the Dallas area. These include students from Dallas, Garland, Grand Prairie and Waxahachie ISDs.

Once found in nearly every high school, programs that teach construction skills have fallen out of favor in many school districts. This has contributed to an aging workforce that needs young people to join its ranks.

The Dallas BA’s grassroots efforts highlight the importance of these programs and the young people enrolled in them. The Association is regularly quoted in articles pertaining to the labor shortage and the great careers paths our industry offers. Our members regularly visit with students and get them out of the classroom and out to visit job sites around the area.

We are always looking for additional partnerships at the high school level. Please contact us if you would like more information.
