Sunnyvale
Sunnyvale is a rural, sparsely populated town and is the easternmost city completely within Dallas County. Nearly 100 years ago, it was neighboring Mesquite’s biggest rival, until a severe storm decimated the town in 1921. Today, there are many reminders of Sunnyvale’s rich history, like the old New Hope School; the Tripp First Baptist Church, built in 1882; and many antique houses. Sunnyvale’s unwillingness to embrace housing affordability and diversity are also an unfortunate part of its history that will hopefully be overcome in the near future.
