Kaufman County

Kaufman County was established in 1848. Both the city and the county seat of Kaufman were named for David S. Kaufman, a diplomat and a U.S. Representative. Cities in Kaufman County include, Combine, Cottonwood, Crandall, Forney, Grays Prairie, Kaufman, Kemp, Mabank, Oak Grove, Oak Ridge, Post Oak Bend, Rosser, Scurry, Talty, and Terrell. Forney and Terrell are beginning to see suburban growth and areas around Cedar Creek Reservoir offer a nice lakeside retreat within about an hour from Dallas.
