March 2018 Market Update from Meyers Research
The latest numbers from Meyers Research confirm that the housing market in the Dallas area remains very robust thanks to strong job figures. More than 101,000 additional jobs are forecast for the Dallas region in 2018. Year-over-year, builders in the Dallas-Fort Worth area supplied 61,017 units including 35,101 single family and 25,916 multifamily according to figures compiled at the end of January.
The price tag for new single-family homes continues to rise thanks to increases in costs from land, labor, lumber, and local regulation. Recently announced tariffs on steel and aluminum will only add to price pressures.
