Home of the Week: Parade of Homes

The Dallas Builders Association Parade of Homes• presented by STELLAR will showcase five luxury Dallas homes on April 7. This scattered site, self-guided tour benefits Operation FINALLY HOME, an organization that provides custom mortgage-free homes to combat-wounded U.S. military veterans and their families.

Featured homes are situated near the Bluffview neighborhood in West Dallas and Lakewood near White Rock Lake. Builders are Classic Urban Homes, Thomas Development and Construction LLC, Prospect Homes, Alexander Hunt Distinct Homes and Richard Miller Custom Homes. All homes are furnished and landscaped.

The 3,055-sq.-ft. Classic Urban Homes modern design features open living, dining and kitchen areas with a stone fireplace as a centerpiece. The space opens up to an outside living area with a pool. In the master suite upstairs, there is a large balcony overlooking the pool. Light hardwood floors, dark cabinets and walls of natural light add a balance of warmth throughout this modern space.

The Thomas Development and Construction LLC Home was designed for entertaining and family enjoyment. This minimalist farmhouse features an open interior layout with large outdoor living spaces. There are 4 bedrooms and a “secret” 3rd floor loft. Reinforcing the intentional design for entertaining, the home features a “back kitchen,” pool and three separate porches totaling over 1,200 square feet. The home, which contains 3,770 square feet overall, is Energy Star Rated and fully automated, controlled through a single interface.

Prospect Homes offers a 4,100-sq.-ft. modern dogtrot design situated on a unique triangular lot. A breezeway connects the main house and separate guest quarters. The lot shape provides the home with exceptional privacy, which allowed the architect to create a window and door design that floods the home with natural light. Stacking sliding doors marry the indoor space with the outdoors. Relaxed yet luxurious finishes are found throughout the home.

The 4,231-sq.-ft. transitional design Alexander Hunt Distinct Home features an open concept floor plan with 11-ft. ceilings and large walls of windows. Top-of-the-line custom features include an entryway pivot front door and pocket door leading to the study, whole home automation, wide plank white oak hardwood floors throughout the house and a gourmet kitchen with oversized LED-lit quartzite island countertop and custom cabinetry.

Nestled into a small hillside overlooking a creek, the 4,043-sq.-ft. Richard Miller Custom Home has a modern, clean aesthetic consisting of wood, stucco and stone. The home uses several methods of green design and construction including advanced insulation, a high-performance roof, accommodation for future solar panels and passive cooling for the public spaces. Other features include imported Italian kitchen cabinetry, central vacuum system, smart lighting systems, high tech security system, custom closets, high-quality ipe decking and a cigar smoke exhaust system in the office.

The Parade of Homes™ will be open April 7 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Tickets are $25 for ages 12 and older and are available at ParadeofHomesDallas.com.
