Home of the Week: Classic Urban Homes

The Dallas Builders Association’s Parade of Homes — presented by Atmos Energy — will hold open six luxury Dallas residences from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 7. This scattered-site, self-guided tour benefits Operation FINALLY HOME, an organization that provides custom mortgage-free homes to combat-wounded U.S. military veterans and their families. The Association’s eighth project is currently underway in Irving.

Featured homes are situated in several neighborhoods in Dallas, including Briarwood, Midway Hollow, and East Dallas near White Rock Lake, as well as in West Dallas just south of the Trinity River.

Classic Urban Homes presents a unique home that is an artist’s dream.  Stepping into the gated courtyard, you begin your journey into artistry and serenity with lush greenery, pathway lighting, and a calming water feature.  There is a graveled pathway that moves you around the house to spark inspiration.

Every room features large windows that look out onto beautiful views and pops of color — perfect for creative expression.  The home is equipped with a smart lighting system that creates individualized lighting scenes in each room.  It also has a smart alarm system that can be programmed from any smart phone.

A downstairs master suite offers a vast dress-in closet with organizers for every need.  The laundry room is just off the master closet, which includes a hanging ironing board and folding table.  A downstairs office with a view into the courtyard makes working a breeze.

The second floor has two bedrooms, a playroom for the kids, and features a reading nook just as you come up the stairs.  Looking out of the reading nook windows makes you feel like you are on a golf course because there’s green turf flanking the metal rooftop.

Another distinctive feature is a stand-alone art studio with views of a beautifully landscaped back yard.  There is a patio just outside the art studio, allowing the outdoors to spark your imagination.

Additional features are a covered, screened-in outdoor kitchen area containing a BBQ, refrigerator and gas burning fireplace with a TV above it.  This is a perfect place for family cookouts, game nights or watching the kids play in the backyard.
